The main contract works involves dewatering the 1.3km tunnel in Mina Zayed that will be built to connect the Shaikh Khalifa Highway to the Shaikh Zayed Tunnel and the Corniche Road. WJ dewatered the main tunnel and other utilities, providing a high-capacity HDPE discharge pipeline network and providing dewatering for services both open cut and for drive/thrust pits. The works will consist of over 300 deepwells along with sections of wellpoint dewatering. The maximum formation level is -20.0m NADD. The side supports are combination of secant pile and diaphragm wall.
WJ carried out pumping test, analytical calculations, and numerical groundwater modeling with sensitivity analysis to design the dewatering system. WJ drilled, installed, and operated over 300 deepwells to give a dry platform at the required excavation level.
WJ installed and managed a HDPE discharge pipework of over 4km across the site with multiple dewatering discharge tanks. WJ conducted monthly water testing to ensure that we comply to the discharge quality parameters set by the municipality.
The dewatering contract is over AED 6.4M. The dewatering project started in November 2019 and ended in December 2024 with valuation amount of over AED 17M.
